Warren K.K. Luke

Warren K.K. Luke was elected to the Board of Directors of Hawaii National Bank in 1971. He joined the Bank a year later, serving in various capacities, and was named President and Chief Executive Officer in 1992 and Chairman of the Board in 1999. He formed Hawaii National Bancshares, Inc., a bank holding company, in 1987, and has served as its President since its inception. He was named Chief Executive Officer of the bank holding company in 1998 and Chairman of its Board of Directors in 2000. Mr. Luke chairs the Bank's Management Committee and the Discount (Loan) Committee of the Board of Directors and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Luke is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Bankers Association, as well as a member of its Community Bankers Council. He is a Trustee of the Appraisal Foundation, an organization authorized by Congress as the source of appraisal standards and appraiser qualifications, and sits on the Advisory Committee for the Korea Economic Institute of America in Washington D.C. He serves as a director of the Pacific Basin Economic Council a leading non-profit association, headquartered in Hong Kong, formed to aid and encourage business, promote open trade and investment and promote competitiveness in the Asia Pacific Region. He also serves as a Trustee of the Foundation for the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies. He chairs the Pacific Asian Affairs Council, is a member of the Hawaii Business Roundtable and is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Punahou School.

Warren served a total nine years as a Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, where he also served as Chairman of its Audit Committee. He served as a member of the National Board of Governors of the United Way of America, where he chaired the Finance Committee and served as its Treasurer. He also served as a member of the National Board of Governors of the American Red Cross and was Vice Chairman of its Council of Former Governors. He is a former President of both the Western Independent Bankers Association and the Hawaii Bankers Association and is an Emeritus Director of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii.

In addition to his work in the financial community, Luke is also active in various aspects of real estate. He is a director of the Land Use Research Foundation of Hawaii, a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, and a former director of Hawaii Community Reinvestment Corporation, a non-profit consortium whose objective is to help increase the supply of housing units affordable to households of low and moderate income in Hawaii. In the past, he chaired the Committee to study Chinatown for Historic Hawaii Foundation. He is a member of Lambda Alpha International, an honorary land economics society.

Mr. Luke is a graduate of Babson College and holds an MBA from Harvard’s Graduate School of Business, where he is a member of the school’s Asia Pacific Advisory Committee.
